March Green Witch Forecast: Spring Equinox
This is your March Green Witch Forcast: Spring Equinox Edition! The spiritual meaning of March lies in transformation and rebirth. March represents the number three, which is the number of growth, creativity, and development.
As a nature witch, I am familiar with seasonal shifts, weather changes, and astrological forecasts. A big part of my craft is working with monthly magic!
Through the years, I’ve begun to see the patterns and themes each month brings. Even though the planets may be doing different things each year simultaneously, an overall theme tends to emerge that can help us navigate each month.
I’m going to be honest, when I think of March, I think of my birthday on March 27th! March and October are my favorite months of the year! October has my favorite witchy holiday, Samhain Holiday.
March represents springtime and new beginnings, and it can often kick off Eclipse Season, depending on the year. It’s a time when flowers begin to bloom, snow melts, and caterpillars transform into butterflies!
When I think of March, I think of watching the cycles of the seasons turn while I am walking in the park. The air is warmer, the mushrooms grow at an accelerated pace, and the caterpillars make cocoons that spin from the trees. It is a sight to behold!
Where I live in Florida, there’s not much of a transition from one season to the next, but I always notice the coming of spring here! It’s a period of perfect weather, long walks with Mother Nature, and creatures breaking free and taking flight from whatever previously held them back.
When Ostara Holiday comes out to play, so do the animals, insects, plants, blooms, and humans. It is a time of growth and exploration! This is a period for blooming and possibilities.

Spring Equinox and Ostara Holiday
Spring Equinox and Ostara Holiday are best known as a time of rebirth. Everything is new, and the world looks and feels different from the winter months. This is a period of new beginnings, good luck, and great fortune for many! When I think of Ostara, I think of a period of blossoming open and becoming your true, authentic self. The spring equinox puts us on the path to better things.
Cocoon Symbolism
During March, we begin to see cocoons breaking open and transforming into moths and butterflies. We can often see them spinning from trees and they can be found on leaves. The cocoon symbolizes visible outer transformations and private inner ones! It often denotes a period of great spiritual awakening and enlightenment.
Butterfly Symbolism
Butterflies denote transformation and coming to life after a period of darkness and contemplation. It is through the darkness we find our inner light and let it shine. When the butterfly emerges from the cocoon, she represents the changes we have made.
The Planet Mars: Courage, Motivation, and Forward Movement
The Planet Mars is highly active during March! This is the beginning of springtime and the astrological new year in astrology. Mars is represented by the fire element, which affects our passion and drive. During March, we may begin to see a way through our problems. There will be forward movement, action, and passion as we move into the next phase of life. To work with Mars's planetary energy, do spellwork on a Tuesday! You can work with Mars to create spells for personal empowerment, motivation, and inspiration.
Angel Number Three Symbolism
The angel number three denotes growth, expansion, and creativity. This makes the ideal time for manifestation. During March, you should see signs of hope and renewal. The blessings you’ve put out will come back to you!
Solar Plexus Chakra
March is a month ruled by the Solar Plexus Chakra, which is associated with the astrological sign Aries, and the planet Mars. The solar plexus denotes creativity, the sun, fire, and authenticity. March is a time of coming into your personal power and responsibility. To activate the solar plexus, imagine the sun spinning yellow in your belly and radiating outward in a spiral.
The Goddess Ostara
The Ostara Holiday is aptly named for the Goddess of Springtime! Ostara is like the Easter goddess. She is associated with eggs, rebirth, springtime, and transformation. She signifies the coming of spring! To work with Ostara, you might try boiling and painting organic, cage-free eggs and giving them to her as an offering. She adores that sort of thing!
Spirits to Work With to Celebrate the Spring Equinox
Here are some additional spirits you can call upon for celebrating spring and ushering in the new astrological year! It’s important to remember that the spring equinox is all about transformation and rebirth. The deities I’ve listed here will be able to assist with the next phase of your life.
Lady Persephone - The Greek Goddess Persephone leaves the underworld (and her husband Hades) and returns in the springtime to join her mother Demeter. Persephone is the goddess of flowers and springtime! She can assist you with empowerment, transformation, and rebirth. To create an empowerment spell, call on Persephone during the spring equinox and leave her an offering of wildly picked flowers!
Nature Spirits - The nature spirits, also known as the fairy folk, are probably the most prominent spirits you can call on during a life transition. They live in the in-between realm, also known as the lower realm, in another realm within the Earthly realm. They are easily accessible, but you have to play nice and follow their rules. You have to make friends first by picking up trash and caring for the planet. You can easily reach them on a nature walk!
Goddess Circe - The Goddess Circe is the daughter of Goddess Hekate in Greek mythology. I can often feel her strong presence in the spring months. She is a water nymph, a shapeshifter, and the queen of glamour magick. To work with Circe, you might like to spend time near a stream or waterfall. She can assist you with bringing warmth into your life if you pair her with elderberries and yarrow. Springtime is all about warmth, sunshine, and all good things!
As you can see, March is all about springtime and new beginnings! We have an astrological new year and a newfound motivation for life. Welcome to March!
