Plants By Laurali Fire Witchcraft: The Fire Element

Fire Witchcraft: The Fire Element uses candle magick, fire divination, and Mars planetary magick to work with fire magick with Plants By Laurali! This is part of my spellcraft series on the four elements and the Chinese elements and how to use them in the craft.

When I think of the fire element, I think of candle magick! Creating candle spells is one of my favorite things as an Aries fire sign. I also think of fire as the most powerful and fast-moving element!

Fire is associated with speed, power, transformation, passion, and warmth. When we sit around a fire, we tell stories, much like our ancestors did long ago. Fire brings us together!

When I think of fire witchcraft, I also think of fire magic and how to use it in your green hearthcraft practice. After all, hearthcraft is built around a fire in the heart of the home.

The hearth is the place in the home where we cook, bake, and make green kitchen witch recipes. Part of being a house witch is working with the fire of the home, also known as the hearth. This is the place where we prepare meals for our families, where the flame burns bright.

I also think of fireplaces, a place that creates warmth and coziness in our homes, especially when practicing winter witchcraft. Winter is a period when we spend more time in the comfort of our homes.

Here, at the fireplace, you can burn things off that no longer serve you, writing them on paper or wood kindling, to feed the fire. The fireplace was often a place where many witches would keep a cauldron for soups and potions back in ancient times.

When I think of fire magick, I would be remiss not to mention campfires and outdoor fire pits, which can often be found in the backyard of the home. It is here family, friends, and loved ones gather around to tell stories, tell jokes, and sing songs. Many great memories can be built around a fire.

Nothing brings people together like a warm and cozy fire! The fire element speaks of passion, warmth, comfort, and coziness. It reminds me of the warmth of the winter solstice sun!

Fire burns things off and it clarifies things. The fire element is known for its purification properties. I also think of fire when I think of a phoenix rising from the ashes!

The fire element is powerful indeed! Just as people gather around a fire, fireworks, and sparklers have the same effect during Fourth of July celebrations. People come together to watch the pretty lights explode in the night sky in brilliant colors.

I have used sparklers in fire magick spellwork and as offerings to the Greek God Ares and the planet Mars. Sparklers make a powerful, fast-acting agent when it comes to green witch spellwork. It incorporates fun and childhood magic into the mix!

Today, I am going to talk about fire witchcraft, and how to incorporate the element of fire into your witchcraft practice! The magical properties of fire can be used in everything from candle magick to sealing a spell jar with candle wax. Let’s get started, shall we?

Fire Witchcraft: The Fire Element

Using fire can create a spark within you! It can make things happen fast. I use the fire element all of the time in my plant witchcraft practice.

I use charcoal discs in my mini cauldron and burn herbs, creating strong, fragrant scents. This method is optimal for burning things off and letting things go that no longer serve you. The ideal timing would be during a full moon or a baneful moon!

My favorite herbs to burn on a charcoal disc are rosemary, star anise, cinnamon sticks, juniper berries, Allspice, nettles, and cardamom. These are herbs that not only smell delicious but assist with letting go of resentment, misfortune, and bad luck. These are all things we can work toward getting rid of in our lives!

In addition to burning herbs, you can use fire to burn letters to your favorite deities! This is a form of prayer, much like burning incense bundles, that can be heard and answered with greater speed. These are often called letters to the universe, but I love to direct my prayers to specific saints, archangels, ancestors, and deities.

I also use fire divination in my plant spirit witchcraft practice! I use a big cauldron (or cooking pot) and burn papers with my prayers, affirmations, and spells. I look at the paper while it burns to see what shapes it makes in an answer to my questions.

Sometimes, I see dragon shapes, sea horses, clouds, and hearts, and I’ve seen what looked like two people ( a couple) holding hands. This form of divination is fun, but it takes patience and practice!

Fire is healing and restorative. Fire cauterizes wounds and burns away the things that are holding us back in life. When you are ready for heavy emotional healing, let the fire element do the heavy lifting!

Fire magic can be used in spells of transformation! Fire transmutes negative emotions and will burn the problem away, leaving only ashes and ruins. It is from these ashes that we emerge, like a phoenix from the ashes!

Think of how you’d like to transform your life and create a spell using the fire element. Use masculine herbs that are martian in quality. These are the herbs most associated with Mars and fire energy.

I think of butterfly weed, cinnamon, black pepper, and nettles. Martian herbs tend to be stinging, stimulating, fast-acting, and sometimes painful! These are the herbs that can change your life with great speed.

Fire, action, courage, strength, sexuality, passion, and war all represent the fire element! The fire element represents the planetary magic of Mars. Mars is most active on Tuesdays and lives and dwells in the signs of Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius!

If you feel compelled by the magnetism of fire, you might enjoy working with the planet Mars. Mars is the god of violence and war and its counterpart is the Greek God Ares. Mars, much like Ares, makes things happen fast!

As you can see, fire can be used in magical ways! Fire will make you feel volatile, action-oriented, and powerful, but it will also create a quiet calm within you like no other.

Think of fire witchcraft as a friend who spurs you into action and sparks creativity within you! Fire is inspiring, motivating, and exhilarating on so many levels. Work with the fire element today!

The fire element can be used in spells for fast action! If there’s something you need to manifest quickly, fire can assist in bringing it to fruition taking the fastest route possible. Fire is a magical element of warmth, creature comforts, and warm and cozy vibes!

With the Earth element, I can let my hair down, relax, and become grounded in my energy. With the fire element, I quickened my heartbeat and stimulated my mind with intellectual thought.

With the water element, I hone my psychic abilities and intuition with lunar witchcraft. With the fire element, I light a spark and make things happen with great inspiration in my heart!

With the air element, I listen to music, sing songs to plant spirits, and whisper sweet nothings into spell jars. With the fire element, I practice green hearthcraft by making simmer pots and cooking homecooked meals by the fire.

The fire element pairs well with all of the four elements + the Chinese elements, too! Wood is often used as kindling to build a fire while metal can be burned down to make new things. It’s quite magical when you think of it!

If you’d like to work with fire witchcraft, you might like to work with candles! Candle witchcraft requires following the rules of fire precaution and safety, as fire can become quite dangerous! Try not to learn it the hard way like I did.

With candle witchcraft, you can dress candles with special oils (Road-opening, Instant Luck Oil, etc.), and roll them in your favorite herbs and tiny gemstones. I use container spells for candle magic, using a glass votive. This way, I can add tiny gemstones, herbs, and taglocks freely.

If candle magick isn’t your thing, you can always light herb incense bundles that you make yourself! I find lavender herb makes a wonderful herb bundle. It’s light & airy, and sweet-smelling!

Fire acts to stimulate your beautiful mind and light up your soul in ways one can never imagine! Fire witchcraft isn’t for the meek at heart, but for those who seek courage, strength, and confidence. Are you ready?
