Plants By Laurali The Yarrow Plant Profile

This is a blog post on the yarrow plant profile! Yarrow is a feminine, water-based plant known for healing, forgiveness, and love. This covers the magical and medicinal properties of the yarrow plant!

This is a plant of reflection and thoughtfulness. This is a good time to reflect on the past and your progress. It is also a good time to sit still and go deep within and reflect on what is to come as we move towards setting intentions for the Beltane Holiday and beyond!

In the April Green Witch Forecast, we learned about Taurus Season and how to use that time to come out of the shadows and into the light. I find we might feel more nostalgic during this period, which means looking to the past for answers.

The full moon holds a deep and powerful connection to the yarrow plant, as it is sensitive and sweet. This is a plant that makes you want to watch old movies, read childhood classics, and embrace your inner child.

Yarrow is a soft plant that can be dreamy, romantic, and ethereal. It pairs well with any Cancer Full Moon due to its gentle healing energy. You can also use this plant to connect with Chiron to heal childhood wounds and trauma.

Chiron, known as the wounded warrior, is an asteroid that is known for digging up old wounds and pouring salt in them. It can be quite harsh, but also brings some powerful memories to the surface for healing.

The yarrow plant goes hand-in-hand with together to make sweet memories! They are very fond of each other and play off of each other’s sweetness.

The Yarrow Plant Profile

I always think of the yarrow plant as a slow-living plant! It represents slowing, calming activities that often reflect the slow summer months. It reminds us to slow down and smell the flowers.

Yarrow is a plant known for its powerful healing properties! When I think of healing, I think of yarrow, and yarrow touches the deep inner healing in the body. It is all about wholeness and holistic wellness!

While yarrow requires a great deal of sunlight and dry soil to survive, it has a tendency, much like elderberry, to grow near waterways and inlets. In Florida, I often find flowering yarrows growing near streams and marshes.

In spellwork, the yarrow moves slowly. You might use yarrow in a magical spell that is continuous and long-lasting, like water flowing through a river. I often use yarrow in healing remedies, especially ones in which forgiveness is needed.

The yarrow plant is associated with the planet Venus, the planet of love, beauty, and money. This makes yarrow a versatile plant that can be used for money magick, traditional love spells, and glamour magick. Being associated with the water element, yarrow can be a bit of a shapeshifter in the plant kingdom!

Yarrow Astrological Correspondences

The yarrow plant profile is strongly associated with the watery sign of Cancer! Cancer signs denote home, warmth, comfort, and sensitivity. They tend to be emotional, dreamy, and receptive.

For its moon sign, yarrow holds the key to the fiery sign of Aries, giving off powerful emotions that are impactful and hit full force. Aries is known for being childlike, fun, and whimsical. These are many of the qualities that the yarrow plant gives off when you work with it.

Yarrow is a highly feminine plant that is associated with Venus and the moon. The moon is highly receptive and holds dream-like energy, mirroring powerful emotions right back to us.

In addition to that, the flowering yarrow plant is highly connected to the seventh chakra, also known as the crown chakra. This is where downloads of information come in from the spirit realm through our thoughts, feelings, and intuition.

With yarrow, there is a slowing down and a playfulness that you might only see in the fairy realm. This is why it is widely regarded as a flower of the fairies and can be used for fae magick! Due to its slowing abilities, yarrow can be used for time travel and divination when passing through different realms.

Yarrow Plant Crab Animal Familiar

The crab spirit animal is highly connected to the yarrow plant! Crab spirit represents the home, family, tenacity, and the ability to hold onto things. What have you been holding onto? What can be let go of? The crab totem teaches us about duality and yin energies. The crab animal familiar is a moon-loving creature!

Yarrow Emotional Healing Decomposer Spell Jar

On the night of any Cancer Full Moon, you’ll want to gather some yarrow, mushroom decomposers, and dirt collected from a crossroads to create an emotional healing spell jar. As you forage for each ingredient, you’ll want to put your intention into it.

To create your intention, think of some emotional aspect of your psyche that could use some gentle yet powerful healing. It could be a traumatic childhood energy, a broken heart, or an unhealthy obsession you might have. As you gather each key ingredient, think and visualize your intention, and feel it being brought to the surface of the moon.

The Cancer Full Moon is a gentle, healing moon! It’s a sweet moon with built-in calming energy that reduces anxieties and the cares of the world.

Yarrow - Yarrow expels things. It gets rid of what is no longer needed. Before it does that, it brings it to the surface for great healing. Yarrow can be found naturally in woodlands, gardens, and near waterways and trails.

Mushrooms (Decomposers) - Mushrooms can be used as decomposers in a spell jar to detoxify or break something down in your life so that it can be healed. Read, Botanical-Style: DIY Goddess Hekate Mushroom Key for ideas on which kinds of fungi to use in your spell!

Crossroad Dirt - Crossroad dirt stands in the middle of things, flat on the surface between worlds and corridors. It is here where you can open the garden gate to your natural healing remedy. Find a crossroad and collect the dirt. Leave behind two sticks crossed over each other as an offering to the spirit of the crossroads and Goddess Hekate.

Place all of the ingredients into a spell jar where you can watch the decomposers break down and remove the toxic pollution from your life. Place your intention into the spell jar and leave it under the full moon overnight. Seal the jar with moon water or candle wax, or squeeze a lemon over it and push the cork deep.

As each ingredient begins to decompose and break down, it will remove and heal the emotional problem from your life. You should feel something right away and see results slowly emerge over time. This can take up to three moon cycles for full but sweet results.
