New Moon Magic Spells and Rituals
New moon magic spells and rituals are for new beginnings, fresh energy, and starting new creative projects with Plants By Laurali! It always brings hope, renewal, and possibilities, much like the star tarot card does.
What do new moons represent? New moons represent the beginning of something, like springtime. It’s a period where you can sit down and set intentions and plant seeds for a better tomorrow.
New moons are used to reset the balance and make a change in your life. They are great for goal-setting and achievement in work and school. Every new moon is a great time to set your intentions for the next 28-day moon cycle!
New Moon Magic Spells and Rituals
New moons are a great time to start over and begin again! If something in your life has become stagnant, it can be a great time to renew your energy.
It’s also a powerful time to create spells! My favorite spells for the new moon involve inviting benevolent spirits and new blessings into my life.
This moon is so powerful, that you can write out a handful of intentions you’ve been wishing, hoping, and praying for in your life. Then, release it! The new moon will manifest it into physical reality, sometimes with very little effort on your part.
While the full moon is all about performing the more significant, more long-term spells and releasing negativity, the new moon is all about bringing new energies into play! It’s a great time to perform a house blessing or do a honey jar spell.
New moons are great for making shifts and changes, as you’ll be able to use your witch’s intuition to create beneficial changes in your life. It’s a time to sit down and map out your life. You can create both long-term goals here, as well as short-term goals that will be met in a 28-day moon cycle.
I always try to set my intentions minimally, so they can be answered quickly in the new moon cycle. By the time the next new moon rolls around, I’ll be ready!
I try to keep my list to five easy things to manifest and center my spells around the new moon intentions I have set. While I’m doing this, I’ll usually put music on, light some candles, and create an atmosphere that creates an uplifting, positive vibe.
This helps me to focus and hone in on what matters in my life right now. It enables me to prioritize what is most urgent or practical for you at the moment.
I also like to add an invisible blessing! Something that is quietly hiding behind the scenes that only myself and my spiritual team know the secret to. When it comes true, I usually smile slyly knowing the secret within the circle, much like the magician's tarot card energy.
I look back on my new moon intention list every new moon cycle to see what came true. Most of the time, every item on my list can be checked off. If not, I know that I need to do something different with my intentions and I make changes accordingly.
New moons hold the key to our futures! They are powerful, grounding, and set the stage for the next phase of our lives.
New Moon Burning Hibiscus Flower Ritual
Want to be heard by the universe in record time? Use the fire element! Pluck a burning hibiscus flower (with permission, of course!) bring it home, and set it in a fireproof container with your intentions for the 28-day moon cycle.
Be sure to leave a plant offering or prayer for the hibiscus flower plant! This way, it gives the plant proper respect and treatment for future spell workings and develops a kinship.
You should keep your intentions as minimal as possible here. I keep it to a minimum of five simple New Moon intentions. This will allow your new moon ritual to spring to life even faster!
New Moon Intentions (Examples)
New blessings (General)
Focus and calm in my work life/business
New baby blessings spell (For my daughter Veronica, as she is about to give birth anytime now)
A new idea for a book
New Opportunity in Business (General)
These are the ones I’ll be doing for the new moon in Virgo, but you can use them as a template for your own life on any of the new moons. You’ll be combining your intentions, the fire element, and the magical properties of the hibiscus flower to amplify the power of the new moon.
The fire element is known for making things happen fast! In addition to that, you can add damiana or any other herb you’d like to add to your petition to power the spell.
When folding your petition (new moon intentions), fold it toward you while visualizing or chanting your intentions aloud. This lets the universe know you want the blessings to come toward you, not away from you. For banishing spells, you’d fold your intention away from you.
Then, burn it with the hibiscus flower for great speed and passionate energy! See hibiscus properties below.
Hibiscus Magical Properties
Hibiscus - Passion is the number one thing the hibiscus flower can be used for! You can use it to fuel passion projects or for intrinsic motivation when you find yourself dragging your feet. Pairs well with the Queen of Wands tarot card! Use it for love, beauty, lust, and divination in the craft.
Astrological Correspondences: Feminine/Venus/Water Element/Aquarius + Scorpio
Notes: Hibiscus pairs well with the hummingbird animal familiar and butterflies! I use hibiscus in spells when I’ve been spurned by a lover by burning it with a hex. In the same vein, to retain passion in a relationship, I burn hibiscus with cloves for hope and renewal. This can work to bring an old lover back to you!
New moons are all about bringing new things into your life! I find it’s good to create an intention list with a mix of both material and mundane, as well as spiritual goals you’d like to see happen. If it’s a new moon, it’s a new beginning!
